You’ve done a lot of work.
You understand the wound.
Yet you’re still not fully free.

You are not new to this.

You’ve read the books, done the therapy, attended workshops. You understand, intellectually, how your mother shaped you. You can name the patterns — the over-functioning, the people-pleasing, the guilt, the way her moods still live somewhere in your nervous system even decades later.

And yet.

You still get pulled back. You still feel the old weight in certain relationships. You’re still waiting, somewhere deep down, for a permission that was never given.

You’ve arrived at the edge of what understanding alone can do.

This is where we begin.

You know this feeling.

You’ve been the diplomat, the fixer, the one who holds it all together — and you’re exhausted by it.

Your mother’s wellbeing has felt, for as long as you can remember, like your responsibility. Her moods, her opinions, her suffering — all of it lands in your body as if it’s yours to manage.

You set a boundary and the guilt is so overwhelming you back down. You keep the peace. You start over.

You’re doing well, in many ways. And yet there’s a part of you still waiting to fully arrive in your own life.

Your sleep is suffering, or your relationships, or your health, or all three.

You’ve tried everything (and some things have helped) but you’re still not free in the way you sense is possible. Something deeper hasn’t moved yet.

Here’s what actually shifts.

Women who do this work describe their lives in before/after terms.

What shifted wasn’t their circumstances — something fundamental changed inside themselves.

  • They stop trying to heal their mother, and begin actually living their own life.
  • They start making decisions from a different place — not from fear of disapproval, but from a quieter, more grounded knowing.
  • They find space inside relationships that used to feel suffocating.
  • Their marriages deepen. Their relationship to their children changes. Their work opens up in ways they couldn’t have predicted.
  • They can sit with their own pain without fleeing it or collapsing into it.
  • Most of all: they become more themselves. That is the thing they keep naming.
Quote Rose

If I had to sum it up I would say it in two words:
space and freedom.

— Maria

Quote Rose

I felt like I finally was a grown up. Like I could respond to life like a ‘normal’ grown up, instead of through the heart of a wounded child.

— Charlie

Quote Rose

Working with Bethany was more helpful than any therapy I’d done to unwind from unhealthy attachment patterns with my mother.

— Margot, parent coach

Why this work is different.

You don’t have to explain yourself.

One of the things women name most often is how much it meant to be understood by someone who already knows this territory. You won’t spend session time convincing anyone that your experience is real, or trying to explain what the wound is.

I’m known as a leading expert on the Mother Wound. I have spent over a decade mapping this landscape — its mechanisms, its manifestations, how it lives in the body, how it moves through generations. I’ve written the book on it, literally.

When we sit down together, you start from a place of being known.

This is not insight alone.

Many women arrive having already accumulated a significant amount of understanding. What this work offers is integration — the movement from knowing into being, from insight into embodied change.

Our sessions are designed to work at the level where the patterns actually live: in the nervous system, in the inner child, in the automatic responses that still run on old wiring. The follow-up notes and exercises after each session help you carry the work into your actual daily life — your relationships, your decisions, your body.

The work continues after we stop.

Women who have completed the program consistently describe that what changed doesn’t require me to maintain. They have new inner resources — a relationship with the inner child, a more grounded sense of self, tools for when the old patterns surface again. The work becomes their own.

Quote Rose

Working 1:1 with Bethany was nothing short of life-changing. I was able to process the experiences I’d had on a much deeper level and grieve for the little girl inside me properly for the first time. With greater clarity and self-esteem, I’ve embarked on a very different relationship with my family. Most importantly of all, my self-worth is no longer dependent on what my family thinks of me.

Quote Rose

Bethany is a mirror to the compassionate, loving, nurturing mother that resides within us. The alchemy of her presence and mine showing up in that space fostered my ability to differentiate between all of these parts, and the adult self started to emerge for me.

— Maria

Quote Rose

The Emergence Program has been like a pilgrimage home to myself. I am more creative, confident, and expressive than ever as a woman leader.

— Helene Guldborg, United Nations

Quote Rose

Over the last six months, I’ve felt empowered about how I’ve moved forward with not only setting boundaries with my mother but activating them. Bethany has been a real confidence booster — always validating how I’m feeling and reminding me that I don’t need anyone’s permission to be myself.”

— Emma, Canada

Quote Rose

After a lifetime of investing in others, I finally made the decision to invest in myself. Working with Bethany is the best investment I’ve ever made.

About Bethany

I’m the author of Discovering the Inner Mother (HarperCollins, 2021) and the originator of the Mother Wound framework, which has reached millions of women worldwide

I’ve worked with women across the world — from corporate leaders to artists, new mothers to women in their sixties — all of whom arrived at the same place: knowing they were capable of more than the wound had allowed, and ready to find out what living from the other side actually feels like.

My approach draws on depth psychology, inner child work, somatic awareness, and over a decade of specialized experience with the Mother Wound. Our sessions are thoughtful, unhurried, and precisely attuned to where you are in your process.
